Cask Notes
Unusually for sherry casks used in the whisky industry, which are normally “seasoned” for a much shorter period, this hogshead from Tonelería Juan Pino in Montilla held Oloroso sherry for over 20 years. This is a whisky borne of patience, with a full 10 years in the first fill sherry wood lending enough sweetness to balance the unmistakable savoury notes emanating from the spirit we know and love, perhaps more than any other at A. D. Rattray.
Tasting Notes - Dried fruit and sweet/nut.
Colour: Red walnut.
Nose: Sticky raisin, frangipane cream and caramelised pecan.
Palate: Kriek lambic ale, roast hazelnut and cinnamon roll.
Finish: Dried apricot and nutmeg, accentuated by luxurious white truffle oil.
